The Good: Typeform

This site is not only visually pleasing, the animations are smooth and help visitors understand the benefits rather than just being gimmicky. it explains the service as you scroll through simple, digestible sections. It’s both good and useful but I had to choose. Typeform has a thorough understanding of their target market, and the menu addresses the most important questions a prospective customer might have.

The Bad (& Ugly): The-I-Academy

The Academy has a great mission: helping black, male K-12 youth succeed in the Bay Area, but the message is lost in the barrage of images, dead-end links, confusing CTAs and colors that don’t seem fun or directed toward any age. It assaults the visitor but doesn’t inform. Links that don’t work, and no clues on how to engage with the material or learn anything. There’s no navigation, the paragraph font is set in all caps, and it’s impossible to discern the target market.

The Useful: SMUD.org

SMUD makes paying your bill foolproof. They’ve taken all the guesswork out of managing your bill, accessing services, and they provide payment confirmation. This website doesn’t waste your time, and it stores your payment method so you can pay from your phone, or contact them in an emergency.
